Marble and calcite are all normal non-metallic materials, can be process into different fineness of powder which called as heavy calcium carbonate after grinded by grinding mill or other mine equipment, can be widely used in papermaking, plastic, rubber, household chemicals, cosmetics, building materials, paints, pharmaceuticals, food and other industries. Although they all can be processed into heavy calcium carbonate, but they are largely different in performance, the following elaborate from several aspects.
1. Tell from the ore itself: from the crystal structure of the microscopic point of view, calcite belongs to the hexagonal calcite; marble crystal presented cube shaped. Calcite is cleavage clear and translucent can be divided into large and small calcite; large calcite has high transparency, cleavage of small calcite is relatively disorder. Marble is divided into coarse concentrate and fine-grained ore, the same tone of biased plainer phase, plenty of reserves in domestic, market usage amount is relatively large.
2.Tell from the powder appearance and content of calcium carbonate: calcite is more soft in pink phase, and also yellowish and reddish phase, calcium content can reach more than 99%; and marble powder slightly plainer, in blue phase, the amount of calcium content is about 96% -98%.
3. From the grinding difficulty: calcite Moh’s hardness of 3.0, while the marble Moh’s hardness of 3-4, so the process of calcite by grinding equipment is more time saving and high efficiency than marble.
4. From the powder application performance: Whiteness of good calcite can be 95-97 above (400 mesh powder), calcite powder price is slightly higher than marble powder. Calcite has high purity and its powder can be used in various food grade fields such as, toothpaste, food additives, food calcium, and feed additives and so on. Whiteness of marble is lower, better marble powder whiteness is about 93-95 (400 mesh).
